Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Thank you for taking the time to read my piece and for taking the effort to share your insights. I agree with your analysis as well. Often times when it comes to new technology, there is a danger of both under-selling and over-selling. As you rightly point out, Ethereum is no different. But in terms of technology, I have favored the protocol in large part because it is Turing complete as well as its application for dApps and ICOs (warts and all) — because it provided the blockchain with its first “use case” regardless of how flawed or unsatisfactory that was.

In terms of well-validated databases such as Oracle, given the current state of art, you are absolutely right in pointing that out as well. The blockchain as well as its evolution will no doubt take time — how long is anyone’s guess.
