Dear Matthew Imuetinyan,

Thank you for taking the time to read my work and for sharing your thoughts on the subject.

You are absolutely correct in pointing out that it is hypocritical to try and ban cryptocurrencies — but such a ban is being attempted specifically because cryptocurrencies threaten the hegemony of state-issued currencies.

Unlike barter which at best is cumbersome, cryptocurrencies facilitate “barter” on a global level and without state intervention — in many ways, far more effective than barter could ever have been.

For now at least, transaction capacity and capabilities are somewhat limited. If and when such limitations can be overcome, any ban, no matter how determined will have limited efficacy.

Yours,

Patrick
